Hmmm

I got the art bundle and tried out this shade immediately because I wanted to try it out before giving to my mom who loves the color yellow. With most HT polishes, there tends to be a recommendation to use thinner coats, but I tend to paint one coat thick enough (lay down the color, cap the free edge, then go over the entire nail again) that prevents me from needing a second coat. Even tho they can be thicker coats, I have found that the HT polishes dry quick enough that I can continue after cleaning around each nail. With this shade, the formula was so liquid yet quick drying that when I finished my first hand I realized that my thumb had pooled nail polish on the side due to gravity. I redid the hand and finished the manicure with thinner coats and it still only needed two coats for full opacity. It was a pretty color on its own, but I ended up adding Lunar Unicorn and Gold Flakie toppers over each nail. At first I wasn’t sure that it would go well with my skin color (light skinned with warmer tones), but over the past few days I have really come to love this combo. I just bought another so my mom and I could each have a bottle! I recommend this, but would caution against thick coats :)

Bad batch?

I’m a big fan of Halo Taco! When I opened the bottle, the brush had one bristle hanging much lower, like a hair was caught in it. It did not come out when I pulled it, so I cut it as closely as I could, but it’s still a little longer. This polish is also very drippy-much more than my other HT polishes. It was thin and streaky when applied and took 4 coats for full coverage. None of this is the HT norm, so I just got a defective bottle from the brush to the polish. Fun color, though!

nice crème

I was also skeptical about crème, especially bright cremes, because they demand very high application skills. Normally I was not able to apply very nicely with other brand (e.g., drug store brands) nail polish when they are bright crème. But I really like the formula of holo taco. I also like the wide brush. Although the consistency is thick, I don't mind that. I can just add nail polish thinner, and IT'S NOT A PROBLEM ANY MORE! I actually like it's thick, because that means I'm getting more product.
